CONTACTS

CHURCH HALL

The Church Hall, built in 1884, seats 110 people, and has been recently refurbished.  We use it as a Parish Centre.  The premises have one main hall, suitable for many different functions.  There are two smaller rooms, one of which can be further divided into two rooms.  There is a main kitchen at one end serving the main hall and facilities for tea or coffee making by the smaller rooms at the other end of the building.

BAPTISMS

Baptism is a rite in the Church that dates way back in history.  Jesus himself was baptised in the River Jordan in Israel, though today we usually use the font in Church.  Within the service, there is a public declaration to follow Jesus, and to attend Church, or in the case of a minor to bring the child to Church.
You are welcome to approach us for a baptism if you live within the Parish or have a church connection.  We would ask you to think about whether baptism is right for your child.  You may want to consider a ‘thanksgiving’.  This is just as important, it gives you a chance to bring your child to Church to be presented to God and to be prayed for and it leaves the baptism open for later.  If you decide to have a baptism in the future, the Baptism team will visit and talk to you.
Enquiries about Baptism will be followed up by a member of the Baptism Team.  We will arrange a date for the baptism, usually conducted in the 10:30 am service.  We meet with parents or adults, usually in their homes, to discuss the meaning of baptism and arrangements for the service.

WEDDINGS

To be married in the Parish of Coley, you have to fulfil the following requirements (the Church’s decision in these matters is final):

1) You are both 18 and over
2) Neither of you have been married before, either in Church, or elsewhere
3) One of you lives in the Parish or has a strong connection to the Parish

Weddings can be arranged with us on any day of the week.  Legally it has to be between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.  However, on a Sunday, due to our normal services, we can only offer between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm.

The first step is to contact us and arrange an appointment to complete the booking form.  At this stage, we will go through all the details of the wedding and what needs to be done.  The Church takes care of most things to do with the service, but you will need to choose your music and hymns.  We do welcome participation by members of your family, for example, someone singing or reading.  We have a choir who can be booked to sing at your wedding.  A member of our Church is a professional flower arranger and is available to organise your flowers in church.

BIBLE NOTES

Bible notes are obtained by subscription with the aim to help with understanding the bible. The notes are structured for every day of the year. The notes are challenging and encouraging and they are ideal for anyone wherever they are on their Christian walk.
